Iceland 31:26 Norway

In the opening match of the European Championship 2014 in Aalborg, Iceland took the first points. Norway was not an equal opponent, Iceland had the control throughout the match and deservingly won with 31:26.

The team of  coach Aron Kristjansson entered the dressing rooms after 30 minutes with a well-deserved 16:10.
In the first ten minutes of the second half, Norway reduced the gap goal by goal to 18:21, mainly as Tvedten, Harald Reinkind and Kristian Kjelling took the responsibility for their team in that period.
But Iceland on the wings of Gudjon Valur Sigurdsson, did not let any surprises and routinely finished the game.
Even Though Kjelling scored 7 goals in this match, this duel belonged to Icelandic winger Sigurdsson.
This victory might be bitter-sweet for the Icelandic team because of the ankle injury of their best player Aron Palmarsson.

Spain 34:27 Hungary

From the beginning of the match, Spain took the initiative and sent a clear message to Hungary to look for their first points in the other two matches. The World Champion rotate all 16 players and still could not be read by their opponent. The match ended 34:27 (17:10) for Spain.

That was the reason for many technical and unforced errors which were used by the Spanish wingers through fast breaks. Hungarian game was broken, Csaszar and Anchin were neutralized and the game was over even in the middle of the first half.
