HC Metalurg Skopje (MKD) 31:29 FC Barcelona (ESP)

In the last round of Group stage, Barcelona suffered their first defeat this season in all of their competitions. Metalurg led by the great strategist Lino Cervar, brave Filip Mirkulovski and excellent goalkeeper duo, surprised Karabatic, Lazarov and their team mates.

From the first moments of the game, it was obvious that Barcelona will not have suitable replacement for Arpad Sterbik on the other side first Stanic then Mitrevski, inspired by nearly 7000 spectators, caught some amazing attempts from Barca players. Lazarov was weak and had no clear shots, Karabatic did not force himself into his trademark penetrations and the great Metalurg defense, was able to stop most line passes, so the score after 30 minutes was 15-11 for the home team.
Metalurg also played without their key players Naumce Mojsovski and Pavel Atman, but the bravery and experience of Filip Mirkulovski, great routine of Renato Vugrinec and great performance by young Luka Cindric were enough to defeat mighty Barcelona, that came in Skopje without Sergei Routenka.
Besides this loss, Barcelona finished first in Group C and will face one of these oponents: Wisla Plock (Poland), HC Motor Zaporozye (Ukraine) or Aalborg Handball (Denmark). Metalurg also did not gain anything from this match they finished third in Group C and will play against SG Flensburg( Germany), Rhein Neckar Lowen (Germany) or KIF Kolding Copenhagen (Denmark)

When Alberto Rocas decided to make a transfer from one of the best team in the world, Barcelona, and signed for the Danish championship runner-up KIF Kolding, nobody believed that he could get his glory days back. So far this season he is the best player in his team, and was directly responsible for the great games and success in the Champions League. KIF Kolding Copenhagen scored two point to take the second place in the Champions League pot, to secure a better position for the last 16. KIF in front of slightly more than 2,500 spectators, showed from the first whistle that they mean business and went through most of the game were ahead 2-3 goal.

In the first half Dunkirk showed  that they did not rise the white flag yet, and with a great performance by young Esben Lie Hansen, they kept pace with the home team. However, a truly breathtaking Albert Rocas with more great scores gave KIF a favorite position in the draw.

After the break, the difference, however, cleared. And quietly brought KIF in position to win and the last 15 minutes there was not a lot of  spectators who had doubts that it would end in victory.

It ended 26-24 and a sure victory, good access to the decisive rounds of the Champions League, where there is a difference of day and night if you are number two or number three. Now KIF is number two and on Tuesday can look forward to a draw where Slovenia has two candidates in the pool, Celje and Velenje Gorenje and Macedonia,has one represented by Metalurg that with a win over Barcelona, ​​gave themselves the best possible confidence in the make or break games.

The first half was excellent in execution which in the end was the key for the victory of the home team. For the new coach of “yellow-white-blue” was the first match in front of home fans in the Hall of Legions.
After a little over then two minutes of the game, Kielce was in a lead with 3-0 and coach Manolo Cadenas asked for the first time out.The 5-1 defense hard to deal and the guest, after 20 minutes of play, were trailing behind with six goals 12:6.

The only player that kept Plock in the game was Petar Nenadica, who scored 5 goals in the first half. On half time break Polish champions had comfortable lead 20:12.

The second half again started with a strong defense and precise attacks for Kielce. Three goals in a row gave them the highest lead 25:14. Plock tried to make up for the loss, but sometimes they did not have solutions for their opponent.
In the end it was a match that had no result imperative for both team which already secured the Final 16 stage.

Team Vive Kielce Targi in the last match of the group stage LM Orlen Wisla Plock defeated 38:30 (20:12). They will face one of this three teams: Paris Saint-Germain (France), Rhein-Neckar Loewen (Germany) and Handewitt Flensburg (Germany). Wisla Plock will have tougher job against one of the best ranking teams: FC Barcelona (Spain), HSV Hamburg (Germany), or MKB Veszprem (Hungary).
